Hello! I’m Chris, a passionate Web Developer with a knack for turning ideas into digital experiences. Here’s a glimpse into my journey:

• I graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. During my time at BYU, I also had the privilege of playing on the rugby team, winning three national championships and earning second-team All-American honors.

• My path took an unexptected turn when I joined IDS, a software company. There, I was introduced to coding, and I absolutely loved. I was the most exciting part of my job. I realized that web development was my true calling.

• I embarked on a self-guided coding journey, doing tutorials, reading documentation, and watching videos. After a few months, I decided to solidify my knowledge by enrolling in Lambda School—a decision that helped me build a solid base in web/software development.

• As a freelance developer for Create Room, I honed my craft, building solutions that mattered. Soon after, I joined NewAge as a Full Stack Web Developer. My first project was convergence, where we unified partner company websites and systems into one seamless experience.

• At NewAge, I focused on the frontend, creating product pages, shop interfaces, and captivating modals. I also customized the site for different global markets, ensuring a consistent yet culturally relevant user experience.

• Since the project’s launch, I’ve been maintaining and enhancing both frontend and backend code. Fixing bugs and creating new features. And now, as a Team Lead in Web Development, I review code, collaborate with third-party APIs, mentor fellow developers, and drive innovation across multiple applications.

Projects

Below are some of the recent projects that I've been working on. These projects are meant to showcase different web development/coding skills like design, responsiveness, user friendliness, and problem solving.

Professional Full Stack Project

• Newage.com
• The company website for NewAge. It's a retail site where customers can also sign up to be brand partners to help sell the product. The site supports multiple locales and has an enrollment section for customers to become brand partners.Vue | Laravel | MySQL | Perl | JavaScript | PHP | SCSS.
• Built the product page, shop page, most of the home page, and many corporate pages.
• Help maintain both frontend and backend code and continue to implement new features.
• Createroom.com
• The company website for Create Room. It's a Shopify site for craft supplies and furniture.Vue | JQuery | JavaScript | PHP | SCSS.
• Moved the codebase to GitHub and helped implement the workflow for deploying to Shopify
• Helped implement Vue.js in the /products/dreambox page.
• Integrated third-party API (Bread) for estimating finance payments.
• Redesigned the homepage.

Full Stack Project

• Workout Tracker - GitHub Frontend Link, GitHub Backend Link
• Workout Tracker is a React web application that allowed users to create and track their workouts. React | Redux | Node.js | Postgres | Knex.js | JavaScript | exrx (a third party) API.
• Worked with 3 other developers remotely to build this application that is being picked up by other developers.
• Built the backend with one other developer, implemented the exrx API, and collaborated to build the workout creation functionality on the frontend.

Backend

• Trip Split - Created Backend Database - GitHub Link
• Trip Split is a React application that allows users to split trip costs among themselves. React | Node.js | Postgres | Knex.js | JavaScript.
• Solely created the backend in under a week.

React/Redux

• Anytime Fitness - Created Instructor Login portal and Dashboard - Deployed Login Portal Link, GitHub Link
• Anytime Fitness is a React application that allowed instructors to create classes and for students to sign up for those classes. React | Redux | Node.js | Knex.js | JavaScript.
• Solely Instructor portal in less then a week with CRUD functionality.

CSS/HTML/Javascript

• Landing Page - Deployed Site Link, GitHub Link
• Macro Calculator was an application that would allow users to keep track of their macros. CSS | HTML | JavaScript.
• Built the landing page in under a week.

Computer Science

• Coding Challenge - Visiting every room in a graph - GitHub Link
• Coding challenge to visit every room in a graph at least once in under 2,000 moves. Python | Graph Data Structure
• Finished the challenge in under 1,000 moves.
